This week, Image Space Media would like to recognize HTC EVO Review as Publisher of the Week. HTC EVO Review "is dedicated to bringing you the most up to date news on the HTC EVO." If you want an unbiased review of all things EVO, this site is the place to go!

The site goes through the features of the phone in detail, so you can find answers to all your questions. For example, the HTC Camera In-Depth Review explains the many pros and few cons of the EVO's 8-megapixel camera. Overall it looks like a really good quality camera, especially for a phone! Here are some of the sample photos:

Are you convinced you need an EVO now? Lucky for you, HTC EVO Review gives some great advice on where to find it!

Nothing would ever get done around here if it weren't for Team Operations! Chief Operating Officer Kevin, along with Samantha, Pat and Brian, make sure everything runs smoothly here in the office and throughout our whole network. Kevin hung up this sign above their workspace to show what Team Operations is made of.

So what's the most important thing Team Operations does? If you're a publisher, that's probably paying you! All of your checks come straight from Operations. Here's Pat working with Samantha to process payment for one of our publishers.

And what else does Team Operations do? Well, like everyone else here at ISM, they love to eat!

Google is constantly innovating and improving its products. The most recent upgrade? Google Images. On Tuesday Google held a special press conference to introduce the new and improved Google Image search. With an inventory of over 10 billion images, and one billion page views every day, Google Images was obviously a competent search engine already.

But now it's even better. This revamp is the biggest in Google Image history, since its launch in 2001.

Google Director of Search Products Ben Ling at Google's search press event

Here are some of the big changes to the way images are displayed:

The search results page is all images now, without the clutter of text and links.

The thumbnails are bigger.

There is continuous scrolling so you can see more images faster.

Scrolling over a thumbnail now shows you the a link, the URL, and the image size.

Clicking on a thumbnail brings you to a full-size version of the image with the image's original website in the background.

Another addition to Google Images is the new Image Search Ads. The image search results page has always had ads at the top, but now these ads will contain thumbnail images along with text. The ads will still be differentiated from organic search results with a different color background and a label of "Sponsored Link."

The screenshot below shows an example of these new, highly relevant ads on an image search for cars.

New Google Image Search ads with images

Right now these thumbnail ads are only available for the Google Image search page, but they will probably come to other Google search pages in the future.

We think Google's Image Search Ads are a great way for advertisers to connect people to their brand through the power of images, just like our own In-Image ads. What do you think of the new Google Images?

We can't believe it's already been over a month since we launched AdStart! AdStart is our new self-serve platform that lets advertisers create and monitor their own in-image ad campaigns. So far our advertisers have been getting great results from AdStart, for a fraction of the cost of other online ad options. If you haven't signed up for AdStart yet, check it out!

The AdStart Homepage

AdStart is so easy to use that your campaigns basically create themselves. But there are a few steps you can take to increase the effectiveness of your ads. Here are some tips:

Create multiple versions of each ad, and monitor your results to see which ones perform the best. Small changes in the wording of your ads can make a huge difference in their success.

Add conversion tracking to find out how your clicks are translating to leads, sales, signups, etc. You can easily add tracking pixels to any page of your website, from the homepage to the checkout page.

Target specific locations and categories. If your ad is relevant in every country except Australia, then you can exclude all Australian sites. If your ad is only relevant for automotive and men's interest, then you include only automotive and men's interest sites. Taking just a couple minutes to choose locations and categories will dramatically improve your results by always showing your ads to the right people.

Target specific locations and categories on the Create Campaign page.

Use frequency capping to restrict the number of times a specific user views your ad in a specific period of time. This decreases ad fatigue and overexposure to avoid a drop in response rate.

Increase the CPC rate. Raising your CPC rate above the minimum will increase the priority of you ads, putting you ahead of the lower-bidding advertisers.

Modify your ad scheduling based on your audience. For example, Christmas tree ads won't be as effective in the middle of the summer, and office supply ads won't be as effective on weekends.

Follow those simple steps and you'll start seeing results in no time! Have you tried AdStart yet? Do you have any tips that we didn't mention?

After sweating for three days straight and then being disappointed by LeBron, we're a little tired of hearing about heat. So lets think cool thoughts for the weekend, starting with some ice cold photos:

"snow ghosts 2" by Flickr user foto3116

"Icicles" by stock.xchng user chechetkin

"Snow Magic" by Flickr user katmere

Do you feel cooler now? Studies show that looking at photos of something cold can actually make you feel colder.

Ok, I made that up, but it could be true!

So look up some photos of Antarctica this weekend, and you'll be on your way to a cooler you! Happy Friday!

Here are some of Flickr's best fireworks photos. I don't know if I should be more impressed with the photographers or the fireworks creators, but these are pretty amazing.

We've heard it over and over again: print is dying, books are going extinct, magazines are over, etc. This is a controversial topic, but one thing is for sure: Publishing is still alive and well, thriving even, online.

While newspapers are struggling to monetize their print editions, they are realizing that a little digital creativity could be beneficial. For example, The Tribune Company, which has been stuck in bankruptcy proceedings for over a year, is now toying with the idea of trading in home delivery for PDF to save money.

"newspaper boxes" by stock.xchng user broicher

Considering newspapers are written in digital form, delivering them digitally makes a lot of sense. A PDF format is a good compromise for readers who enjoy the setup of the hardcopy newspaper as opposed to the online layout. Presumably, the PDF's would still have ads in them, and a paid subscription would be necessary to access the documents.

The Tribune Company is still working out all the details, but many media outlets have already mastered the art of online publishing. MediaPost just released a list of The 100 Most Important Online Publishers. Not surprisingly, The New York Times is number one, as the "poster child for print publishers challenged by the economic shift from analog to digital publishing.

Coming in for a close second is Google. The article editors praise Google's customized logos, which can convey information about a holiday, anniversary, etc. to millions of people worldwide. You can look back at all the Google Doodles, as these logos are called, from the past 13 years.

Sesame Street-themed Google logo to celebrate Sesame Street's 30th anniversary

The other 98 publishers on the list range from e-commerce sites (Gilt Groupe, #28) to cable TV networks (The Weather Channel, #41) to social networking sites (Twitter, #53). What all these sites have in common is their ability to provide quality content that keep their users coming back for more.

If you want to make it onto next year's list, you might want to consult Yahoo's new style guide, "The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing and Creating Content in the Digital World." The guide not only includes grammar and punctuation rules, but also advice on topics like search engine optimization and creating content for mobile devices. You can buy the guide online and in print on July 6th.

Everyone has a different take on how to enhance and sustain publishing, both online and in print. This clever video asserts that all kinds of publishing will be around for awhile. Don't get disheartened by the beginning; watch the whole thing. Just trust me.

Confession: I couldn't even name one player on the U.S. soccer team a few weeks ago. Granted I'm not a huge sports fan, but I know it's not just me. The Boston.com video below shows a general lack of soccer knowledge compared to more popular sports like baseball and basketball.

Every four years, though, something changes. For a month, the whole country transforms into a hub of soccer fanatics. You walk down the street and see huge crowds stuffed into bars watching soccer games. You walk down the hall in the office and see your coworkers huddled around a computer watching replays on ESPN.com. Even here at ISM we've recently been spending a little more time in our conference room, with its giant plasma TV.

This phenomenon is known as the FIFA World Cup.

"Soccer 2" by stock.xchng user amcrimmins

Watching the World Cup has always been a social event. But the rising popularity of social media has given this year's tournament an added element of engagement. Mashable put together a good history of social media's presence in the World Cup in the last decade. A lot has changed, especially in the past four years.

In June 2006, Facebook was only available to college and high school students. Now Facebook has over 50 million users worldwide.

In June 2006, social networking sites were a pastime, used primarily for keeping in touch with friends. On June 12, 2010, 30 percent of Facebook status updates related to the U.S.-England World Cup game that day, according to the Wall Street Journal.

In June 2006, Twitter was still being created. Now Twitter has close to 200 million users generating 65 million tweets per day, according to TechCrunch.

In June 2006, real-time interaction online was mostly mostly limited to instant messaging. On June 24, 2010, a Twitter record was broken with 3,283 tweets per second right after Japan beat Denmark.

"USA v Algeria World Cup Match" by Flickr user jasonwhat

Social media is connecting fans all over the world and letting them enter the stadiums in South Africa, virtually at least. "You could argue that social media has become a proxy for being in the stadium itself," Nielsen Co. executive Pete Blackshaw told the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's almost like the notion of spectatorship has been redefined."

With technology changing so fast, who knows how social media with evolve by the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. I bet augmented reality will play a huge role in how fans experience the games. What are your predictions?

At ISM Headquarters, we talk a lot about the power of images - especially in terms of catalyzing real change. But so far we've only considered photography as separate from other art forms. A photo is different from a painting, which is different from music, which is different from sculpture. Duh. But what happens at the intersection of art forms?

The album art for Neko Case's Middle Cyclone, released by ANTI- Records.

Yup. Album art. I will be perfectly honest and admit that the inspiration for this blog post came from the artwork for Neko Case's recently released album Middle Cyclone, which Paste Magazine honored as the best album cover of the last decade. The album itself isn't too shabby either: it debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts, and Amazon.com ranked it as the best album of 2009. I have a huge girl-crush on Neko Case so obviously I agree with Paste's assessment that she makes "the coolest hood ornament of all time" on her album cover. But our objectification of Ms. Case is only part of why the artwork for her album--that she designed completely--is so awesome. Her strength and beauty, alongside the reference to old-school Americana with the retro car, perfectly embody the spirit of Middle Cyclone's music. Ideally, that's what fusions of different art forms should accomplish. In the case of album art as cool as Neko's, it's a way to capture someone's attention in a record store (or in the iTunes store), but it also represents the close ties between different forms of artistic expression.

What are some other awesome album covers? Considering the plethora of amazing album art I decided to narrow it down by continuing in the vein of albums released in 2009, and also in the vein of awesome ladies:

The album art for Yeah Yeah Yeahs' It's Blitz!, released by Interscope

This album cover for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' recently released album It's Blitz! is as shit-kicking and striking as their songs "Heads Will Roll" and "Zero." Talk about art embodying music. Paste Magazine, ranking them at number 6, puts it well: Karen O's egg-destroying hand proves that "rock 'n' roll is best when messy."

In both of these scenarios, we wouldn't be talking about the album art if the music itself weren't very good. Unless, of course, you're talking about Lady GaGa. She's taken the notion of fusing art forms to an extreme. With her, fashion is music is music video, and separating these art forms would make her a weaker artist (see, below, the music video for "Telephone" that references Andy Warhol, Quentin Tarantino, Salvador Dali, and Alexander McQueen, among others). That these artists incorporate different forms of art into their traditional areas of expression show how dominant visual media is in our lives.

What other artists rely on the fusion of traditionally separate forms of expression? What are some of your favorite album covers?
