Biz dev in the house!

Among the perks of working in New York is the amazing array food options. If you're looking for something to challenge your taste buds, chances are you can find it in New York City. A few of us at ISM consider ourselves bonafide foodies and love scoping out the restaurant scene. This week, some of us took a field trip to Curry Hill for Indian food. Check out this huge crepe!

In just a few weeks, we'll be moving to a brand spanking new office. In the meantime, we've been holding fort at Union Square TechSpace, a fully equipped work space which over 50 startups call home. We just found out that our next door neighbor will be none other than the popular social media blog Mashable. We are big fans of the site and thought we'd welcome them to TechSpace with a fun wall installation of Pete Cashmore their CEO and face of Mashable.

Exciting news! A Joomla developer named AJ recently created an extension that places the Image Space Media script on Joomla sites. We're big proponents of using extensions and plug-ins to place ISM ads on your site, so this is another great addition to our extension family! Thanks, AJ!

AJ was able to create an ISM extension for Joomla, and we created an ISM plug-in for WordPress because both platforms are to a certain extent open source, so that users can improve upon and change the existing software. The great thing about AJ's new ISM extension is that it is very real proof that open source platforms like Joomla encourage collaboration and a sense of community.

It is often the case that open source organizations like Joomla believe very strongly in the social implications of being open. For example, here's Joomla's vision:

• People publishing and collaborating in their communities and around the world
• Software that is free, secure, and high-quality
• A community that is enjoyable and rewarding to participate in
• People around the world using their preferred languages
• A project that acts autonomously
• A project that is socially responsible
• A project dedicated to maintaining the trust of its users

In Joomla's developers' minds, the fact that the software is free and the community is open to participation and collaboration means that the end-product will be more valuable, useful, and responsible.

More and more open source organizations have emerged recently using a similar model - Wikipedia has an impressive list of the many collaborative software applications. And as reported last week in TechCrunch, the open source ideology is now considered a sound business investment: Talend, the provider of open source data solutions, raised $8 million in investments in their latest round of funding, bringing their total secured funding to $28 million. Impressive!

The new ISM extension for Joomla is proof that open source software can encourage collaboration between parties to everyone's benefit. Now who feel's like singing with me?

Mainly defined as reporting news, journalism remains the cornerstone of the continuously evolving multimedia world. Today’s media business is going through the most monumental transformation in its history, one in which we are receiving information at a pace that’s unfathomable. It probably goes without saying that the emergence of Twitter is driving the transformation. Not only does Twitter have journalists reporting in real time, but readers are sharing news almost as quickly as it is being reported.


Over the past few weeks, Image Space Media has had the pleasure of watching company news spread in real time. Shortly after we launched PubStop at SXSW, Adotas ran the news and even featured a video clip of our fearless CEO, Jesse Chenard. Within minutes the story was circulated via Twitter retweets, some of which were linked to Facebook status feeds, and some even to Linkedin.

Last week, we were amazed by the rapid pace at which a TechCrunch post featuring ISM was circulated via Twitter. In less than 45 minutes the story garnered almost 200 retweets. Then on the heels of this incredible testament to media’s evolution, Tech Cocktail today reported on our efforts to seize the image space as a means to support publishers in their quests to monetize.

So to all the journalists out there who are embracing the new media evolution, we salute you. We are proud to be a part of your ecosystem, grateful for your support and are hopeful that in image advertising will be a source of revenue for each and every site that provides you with a platform to showcase your brilliance.

Our fly new look.

Amazing stuff is happening in Image Space Media Headquarters: We've unveiled our new website, logo and our publisher panel PubStop. AND our team is gearing up to head to SXSW Interactive tomorrow. It's an exciting time to be using in-image ads.

But let's break it down a little. Our team has put in a lot of work to make our new website look as beautiful as it does... from back-end developers to content writers, from management on down to us bloggers/ISM cheerleaders. And we're pretty happy with the results.

Here's a run-down of some of the additions to the site:
